SIGNAL THE END OF THE MEAL

Rather than hoping willpower may prevent you from over-eating, send a deliberate message to your brain by creating a new habit to signal the end of a meal. Try making peppermint tea and drinking it from your favourite cup, taking the time to savour it away from the kitchen table. Peppermint aids digestion so it’s the perfect way to conclude a meal.
BRUSH YOUR TEETH

Do your teeth as soon as you have finished your meal – nothing will taste good after this!
PORTION OUT LEFTOVERS

Divide up the remains of your cooking before sitting down to eat so that, once cooled, it is ready to be put into the fridge/freezer for a future meal and you are not tempted to go back for seconds. Cook once, eat twice is a fantastic time-saver too.
BEGIN WITH WATER

Drink 500ml of water 10-15 minutes before eating. This will help you recognize true hunger when it comes to your meal rather than thirst.
REDUCE PLATE SIZE

In the 1950s, the average dinner plate was 9″. It has now expanded to 10 ½” along with our waistlines. Choose a smaller plate & eat more slowly and this can have a profound difference over a week, a month, a year, a decade.
